I was expecting displays of woodcarving from different carvers but the museum is really a collection of the life long work of Dr. Harley Niblack.
He has an interesting way of taking everyday life and adding a bit of tongue-in cheek. Several of the diorama displays have actual moving subjects. This was done by Niblack using his mechanical talent's.

Another "Do It Yourself Surgery" |
The wanted poster "Dead or Alive" is the guy in the chair. The barber is holding a straight razor! The villain is holding a gun! |
The animated prisoners marched in chains. |

Linda said my fish carvings look a lot more realistic. I said she is prejudice. But... you can be prejudice and still be right. |

After leaving the
Woodcarving museum yesterday we drove to Rapid City, SD. We needed a day to regroup and catch up on
the blog. We found a room at America’s
Best Value Inn and it was a nice room for the price and the WIFI was
super-fast. We spent the night there
then in the morning went to their hot breakfast bar and pigged out on waffles
and sausage gravy and biscuits. We just
needed some down time and this was the place.
