Day 21:  9/27/14

Do any of these items bring up memories of years ago?  Does anybody still make them? Does anybody still sell them?  Well yes they do.  They can be found at the Vermont Country Store.  With two locations within about 18 miles of each other, we decided to hit both.  This is the place for finding those old and forgotten items.  Neither store is near any metro area.  The original store in Weston, VT is really out in the sticks.  At least the Rockingham store is along a main highway.

Customers play with ring toss outside.

Let's try this Kissing Bridge out.

There is a big display of scales in one section of the store

I had a Columbia bike identical to this.
Even the same color!

The Weston Store has a sit down restaurant, the Bryant House, and a snack bar type eatery.  There are glider swings with tables to eat at which is a neat idea.

The first addition was to buy
the house next door.

Second addition was to buy
the Odd Fellows Hall.

Then we drove to Williamstown and North Adams, MA.
When there was a maintenance job that Flight Services was not equipped to handle I would arrange to have the work performed at Turboprop East at Harriman and West Airport in North Adams.  Normally I would accompany the plane and stay over until it was ready to fly back to Harrisburg.  I would tell Linda about how the airport is next to the highest mountain in MA and it has ridges to fly over no matter which direction you were arriving from.  Several times there have been moose on the airport, and once I saw a black bear run past the end of the runway. We stopped so i could take a wall down memory lane.  Being Saturday, and a beautiful one at that, the sail planes (gliders) were taking advantage.

Since Williamstown is a college town the price at the old motel I used to stay at is double what you would pay elsewhere.  So we headed to Stockbridge, MA and plan to see the Norman Rockwell Museum tomorrow.  We will be spending the night  at the Super8 in Lee, MA
