T uesday 9.24.13 Newfoundlsnd to Nova Scotia

Last evening we said good bye to Arlene.  She is a very special lady with a great sense of humor.  We decided to go back to Joe’s Café for the last time.  Before we left Ann came by and we had a good time conversing and laughing. These are two ladies we are going to miss.

Dennis and Alice
This morning we had to say good bye to Dennis and Alice.  That was hard to do.  Although we were only there for a short time we felt like we were saying good bye to lifelong friends.  Yesterday one of their friends gave Alice some veggies and in the bunch was a very unusual carrot.  Alice thought that carrot represented Linda and me so she shared it with us as a parting gift.  That was a hoot!

The wind had died down considerably this morning.  As we reached Route 1 we saw the trucks and trailers that were still there from yesterday.  Since Newfoundland is an island, many trailers are dropped at the ferry terminal, loaded onboard with yard trucks and then picked up on the other side by company drivers.  The drivers on the island are called Island Drivers.  They brought the trailers to the edge of Wreckhouse and dropped them in a parking lot near Doyles, and then they went back for more.  Later a driver will take them to the ferry for drop off.

We reached the ferry terminal fifteen minutes before show up time and were assigned our parking spot.  Now it’s time for a cup of coffee.  We walked into the terminal and ordered up coffee and a bagel.  Before the bagel was toasted the message came across the speakers for all customers to return to their vehicles and prepare for boarding.  Within fifteen minutes we were on board only three spots back from the bow of the ship.  The lady at the snack bar said it was unusual to load this early.

"Atlantic Vision"

Our last crossing was aboard “Highlanders” and this voyage will be on the “Atlantic Vision”.  It was ever fancier then the “Highlanders”!  It almost looked like a casino inside.

Do you remember the game of Minus-Five we didn’t get to finish on the first ferry trip?  Well, Linda didn’t forget either.  So we played it out and I won.

Then we played a second game and Linda won.

Now this calls for a Championship Round…Guess who won…

Northbound
We met a delightful trio from Ontario, a husband and wife and her brother.  They made the time pass quickly as we discussed topics that should have all the world’s problems solved. (Well at least as we all see it.)

Like two ships passing in the ...
afternoon??

After disembarking we drove to Arm of Gold RV Park where we stayed on the way up.  There are about three or four us here that left Grand Codroy this morning.

Even though it had been a relaxing day I think we will sleep well tonight.
