After a hearty breakfast at
McDonald’s we headed to Wal-Mart for an alarm clock and more Icy Hot
Strips. The alarm clock doesn’t make
enough noise to wake a mouse, but Linda was being frugal with her $4.88 alarm
clock. Terry’s back started to tighten
up again upon waking, so hence some intervention with Icy Hot and Aleve. Linda informed him that if he sits down at
the computer today, she’s going to kick him in the butt and then he’ll be sore
in two places.
We headed to Durango to purchase
train tickets for a ride tomorrow on the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge
Railroad. Durango is one busy town and
gorges itself on quarters fed into its parking meters at a quarter for 15
minutes. We got our tickets, then
decided to visit the train’s museum.
Half way through the museum Linda remembered we needed to feed the
ravenous parking meter, so we high-tailed it back to the meter, crammed some
more quarters down it’s throat, and finished our tour of the museum. It was well worth the time and the
quarters. So many interesting things,
and not just about trains! It even had a
replica of the first airplane to land and take off of a ship.

First airplane to take off from a ship. |
There was a collection of antique cars:
1924 Model T Ford (my dad had one in the 1950s) |
1923 Buick |
1919 Huppmobile |
Model A Ford Pickup |
1908 Olds??? |
There is an operating HO train layout:
The drive in theater has movies with sound, plus intermission adds for the snack bar |
Notice the coffee cup and coffee pot on the railing. |
Who's that in the outhouse? |
Shave and a haircut...two bits. |
"And I came from Alabama with a banjo on my knee". |
After a visit to the Gift Shop,
we headed back to our hotel for a rest.
And no, Terry didn’t sit at the computer. He’s sore enough.
