Raccoon smorgasbord |
Around 3:00AM we had intruders. Linda heard a crash out in the screen room. “Somebody’s
out there. “ Two fat raccoons dumped over the food box. Linda figured since the campground is in an
area of the suburbs there shouldn’t be any critters. But these two pulled one over on us. They didn’t seem to mind the rain at all and
enjoyed two whole loaves of bread (the ones bought at Charlie's yesterday) , several packages of Soup Starter, opened all
the Raman Noodles and apparently were not impressed with the Swiss Miss hot chocolate
mix that we found floating on top the mud. With no bread except a piece the
size of a postage stamp, we decided Tim Horton’s is in order.
Not quite enough for breakfast |
Tim Horton’s is the Canadian version of
Dunkin Doughnuts. They serve some good
breakfast sandwiches and have free WIFI. So I worked on the blog until the
battery went dead on the laptop. We were there long enough we got hungry again and tried more coffee
and doughnuts..
Working in the tent |
The weather forecast says rain until
midnight. It has been a rather steady
rain with occasional downpours. I’m really
behind on the blog so I continued inside the tent with the rain dropping on my
head about once every ten minutes. Linda
is holed up in the van working on puzzle books.
In the late afternoon I was thinking about
food (nothing unusual there) and specifically pizza. I looked at Linda and said “You know what we
haven’t had since we started this trip?” In a blink she shouted “Pizza!” It’s strange how we think the same thing so
many times. One time years ago. I said “Do
you know what I was thinking?” and Linda said “Dairy Queen” our son just looked at
us and said “You two are scary”. So we looked up pizza on the GPS and soon we were sitting in the warmth of a Pizza Hut. Hey, at least it ain't raining in here!
Other than that ...Not a whole lot of excitement
today.
